Tour Updates

January 2022 Update

Hello Everyone,

Here’s wishing you all a Peaceful and Healthy New Year! As you don’t need reminding, the Covid situation remains fluid so we take each week as it comes.

Latest info on some of the tours:

219: Red Flag. We have enough bookings for this tour to proceed and just hope we are not prevented by any new travel ban. MCAS Yuma’s airshow has been cancelled but NAF El Centro’s, which we will attend, is still going ahead at this moment in time.

202: Moscow Airports. Latest itinerary with prices is now on the website and is attracting bookings. Too early to confirm ramp access, however, SVO is looking promising – they have not said Niet!

204: Oshkosh. A couple of beds available in the Horizon Village and one room in the Air-Conditioned Hall of Residence. With nearly 60 bookings this tour is 99% sold out. See similar tour 224 below. This year the EAA’s theme for AirVenture is the 75th Anniversary of the US Air Force! For the latest info click here.

221 USA: “Aviation Nation” Airshow, Nellis AFB. We will be offering a long weekend trip to Nellis’s airshow which is held every 2 years. We await confirmation that it will be celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the US Air Force. Details to be advised by end of January. Register your interest now by email.

224 Oshkosh. Staying in Green Bay hotel, this tour has plenty of air-conditioned, en-suite rooms available. Itinerary and price on the webpage.

Covid Tests. This company are doing arrival PCR testing with same day results before midnight and they have a clinic in Reading as well as other locations.

Also, PCR testing at Heathrow Airport

We end this Update with the very sad news that Mike McEvoy passed away just before Christmas at the age of 85, during surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. I appreciate that Mike will not be known to all of you but a considerable number of you will know him as a great character who would very happily recount tales of his time in the RAF and his love of the Hunter in particular. After the RAF he was an ATCO for many years and was Head of Air Traffic Control for the very first International Air Tattoos at Greenham Common. He was also one of the leading lights in the UK scale modelling community having spent 50+ years in the International Plastic Modellers Society. He was still writing regular magazine articles, keeping his website going and had built a remarkable collection of models over many years. A great loss to the aviation community in many different ways. (Courtesy of Chris Bosworth)

Our head office in Eton is continuing to work with minimal staff and shorter hours, including myself (I can only work 17 hours a week). But we are very slowly contacting you to take payment. Do not worry if you have not yet been contacted. If you are concerned that your bookings as gone astray, simply email me and I will reply within 48 hours or less.
