We end this Update with the very sad news that Mike McEvoy passed away just before Christmas at the age of 85, during surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. I appreciate that Mike will not be known to all of you but a considerable number of you will know him as a great character who would very happily recount tales of his time in the RAF and his love of the Hunter in particular. After the RAF he was an ATCO for many years and was Head of Air Traffic Control for the very first International Air Tattoos at Greenham Common. He was also one of the leading lights in the UK scale modelling community having spent 50+ years in the International Plastic Modellers Society. He was still writing regular magazine articles, keeping his grumpyoldmodellers.com website going and had built a remarkable collection of models over many years. A great loss to the aviation community in many different ways. (Courtesy of Chris Bosworth)
